Jing Tea Shopify Website Design Case Study

Jing Tea is a luxury tea brand with a reputation for refinement and ritual. For this project, I collaborated with Shopify Plus agency Blubolt, who had already delivered the UX and wireframes. My role was to take their structural foundations and craft a high-end visual identity for the online store — ensuring the UI matched Jing’s premium positioning. From colour palette refinements to typography and layout details, every design decision was made to create a sense of calm and elevation.Site built by Blubolt.

Refined Colour Palette

Jing’s brand identity centred on a limited palette of golds and earthy tones. To translate this effectively for digital, I expanded the range, introducing additional neutrals and refined variations of their existing colours. This created greater flexibility while ensuring the palette remained manageable and cohesive. Gold accents were still reserved for key highlights, but the broader set of tones allowed for hierarchy, contrast, and accessibility across pages. The result was a palette that felt elegant, sophisticated, and fully aligned with Jing’s luxury ethos.

Collection Page

On desktop, the collection page became a showcase for understated design. Clean typography and generous spacing created a sense of calm, while subtle applications of the colour palette added hierarchy to product information. Gold details highlighted important interactions, helping customers navigate without clutter. This subtle yet intentional use of colour and layout ensured that browsing products felt considered, trustworthy, and premium.

Mobile Screens

On mobile, the refined UI carried seamlessly into Shopify 2.0 sections. Every bespoke block was styled to maintain consistency, from product cards and navigation through to promotional banners and editorial storytelling. By focusing on hierarchy, contrast, and rhythm, the mobile experience remained intuitive and accessible while still evoking Jing’s high-end aesthetic. The result was a mobile-first experience that delivered elegance without compromise.
